Wet Pour Rubber Safety Surfaces for Children’s Play Areas

Climbing frames and children’s play equipment is an amazing way to keep children active whilst having fun. Wet pour rubber safety surfaces are designed to provide high quality, environmentally friendly and extra safe play environments for kids play areas.

Wet pour rubber is an extremely popular choice of safety surface as it creates the perfect soft spongy landing if little ones happen to take a tumble. Wet pour is incredible at reducing the risk of serious injury and is useful in many areas including school playgrounds, nurseries and sports facilities. Wet pour provides an extremely durable, seamless play surface which can withstand even the toughest play environments.

Wet pour safety surfaces are available in a range of different colours for a colourful, exciting play experience for kids. This brilliant safety surface material is made up of a mixture of small rubber granules which is bonded together by glue or resin. The two materials will be mixed together on site just before installation and the wet material will be laid at the correct thickness for the play area and levelled by hand.

Wet pour is ideal for children’s play areas because of it’s anti-slip property and it is extremely good at absorbing impact. It is therefore a widely used child friendly safety surface which provides a hard wearing spongy floor for any children’s play equipment.

Wet pour does require a hard and relatively level surface to sit on top of, such as concrete or tarmac which can be laid down before installation of wet pour itself. For example if you are building your climbing frame onto grass, some groundwork preparation would need to be carried out in order to attain a solid base before wet pour rubber flooring could be installed. If one has not been put down already, material to create an edge to the play area such as timber beams will be required in order for the installers to lay down the wet pour.

Wet pour rubber is actually relatively quick to dry. Once it has been installed, wet pour can usually be used between 24 to 48 hours after installation. The drying time will depend heavily on the temperature outside.

It is not difficult to maintain your wet pour rubber safety flooring in relatively good condition depending on how much use it gets. Generally all that is needed is a good brush off to remove any debris. As your wet pour safety surface ages it can also benefit from a power wash every now and again to remove any algae or moss which may have appeared.
