Frequently Asked Questions

Below you will find a short list of our most frequently asked questions, about flat-pack assembly, custom builds, commerical play equipment and our safety surfacing options.

Flat-Pack Assembly Service

I have purchased a playset online, can you build it?

Yes absolutely, this is why were here. Once we know more information about which make and model you have, and your garden size is suitable, we can quote you an assembly price and timescale. Remember, our quotes are always ‘job rate’ (not hourly, or day rate).

What's a 'job rate' quote?

Our assembly quotes are always ‘job rate’ (not hourly, or day rate). This is the price to come to you and assemble your product*. You do not need to worry about anything else as the price we quote is the price you pay. (*our quote does not include return visits for missing or damaged parts)

My garden isn't level, what can I do?

If your garden isn’t level then please DO NOT buy a pre-boxed flat-pack climbing frame (i.e. from Dunster House, Selwood Products, Plum, Wickey, Fatmoose, Jungle Gym, Outdoor Toys, Caledonia Play, Rainbow Play, Argos etc). Flat-pack climbing frames are all designed to be assembled on a flat level surface. If your garden has a slope, even a small one, the play equipment will not sit level. This means the swings will not swing straight, which could cause collisions (with frame or other children). Also the forces of climbing and swinging going though the set are not evenly distributed, which will likely result in it wearing out far quicker. Our custom Play Crazy climbing frames are specifically designed for use in gardens with slopes and customers wanting heavy duty quality wood.

What if my playset has damaged or missing parts?

We will try to complete as much as we can on the day of installation. If parts are missing we will try to bypass them leaving holes aligned and ready for you to finish or we will charge a recall to finish it once parts have arrived. We do not carry spare parts because we always use manufacturers parts, and do not get involved with chasing the parts on your behalf. We will inform you of the part number and/or relevant instruction manual pages. We quote on the basis all parts are available for us to assemble on the assembly day. If parts are missing or damaged then we will still invoice the full day.

Custom Bespoke Playstes

Why do you offer custom towers?

Having assembled climbing frames for multiple brands (and worked in-house at some), we saw the limitations and poor quality of many products. Most flat-pack sets are not suitable for uneven or sloping gardens, and often size/quality of wood reduces each year. We met many customers who were unhappy, so we decided to start making our own sets, to plug this gap and fulfil customers needs.

How are your bespoke products different?

Our custom bespoke climbing frames are manufactured by us, so you get a number of benefits.

  • They are made to suit your garden, so they are the right size and layout. Regardless of slope, dip or bumps – we will finish parts on-site during assembly to ensure everything is flat and level.
  • You’re buying direct. We’re a small family company, who manufacture and install, so our overheads are low, meaning we can pass these savings onto you.
  • Our wood sizes are unbeatable. See our comparison images if you think we’re kidding.

Do I need commercial play equipment?

If you are running a business then you will likely need commercial play equipment, even if you’re a pub, kids club or babysitter in your own home. If in doubt then please check with your liability insurance provider, because you will need to contact them to make a claim if anyone got injured, so check their requirements first. For reference  commercial play equipment is EN-1176, and domestic is EN-71  safety standards.

Safety Surfacing

Do I need safety surfacing?

If you are purchasing for domestic use then the climbing frame or treehouse can be assembled directly onto your lawn. For commercial use a safety surface is normally required.

Which is the best safety surfacing?

There is no one answer to this question. It will ultimately depend on your requirements, and your budget. Safety matting is the cheapest options, and bonded surfacing is most expensive, with different loose fill surfaces such as bark, rubber mulch and sand the most common.
