Comparing the Osborn and the Whitby Climbing Frame from Selwood Products
The fun packed Whitby climbing frame is new to the Selwood range for 2014. This playset is very similar to the Woodchester, the Oriana Prestige and 
the Burghley climbing frames from Selwood. The Whitby climbing frame includes a sturdy wooden play tower including a solid wooden roof and a spacious play deck. The wooden play deck stands 5ft off of the ground and supports the raised playhouse. The solid roof provides protection from rain and direct sunlight so little ones can play in the playhouse whatever the weather.
The stunning Osborn climbing frame has a very similar structure to the Whitby including a wooden play tower, play deck and solid wooden roof. The Whitby play frame is slightly larger than the Osborn and the play deck is also slightly higher. The Whitby is an ideal playset for those who have older children or very confident climbers that like a challenge.
Another difference between the Osborn and the Whitby climbing frames is the lower play cabin underneath the play deck of the Osborn play frame. The Whitby play frame has a space underneath the wooden play deck that is perfect for either a sandpit or for storing other outdoor toys, whereas the Osborn climbing frame features a lower playhouse as well as a raise play house supported by the play deck. The lower play den is fully enclosed with a door opening at the back of the playset and a window/ serving hatch at the front. The serving hatch is complete with two stools which can encourage games such as cafes and restaurants but is also great for kids to have a rest between play.
The lower play cabin featured in the Osborn playset provides some extra stability to the play frame, making the Osborn climbing frame a more sturdy set than the Whitby. The lower playhouse can prevent movement of the frame but both sets are sturdy and safe. As the Whitby climbing frame features a solid wooden roof it will be subject to less movement anyway as the solid roof will prevent the play frame from twisting. Solid wooden roofs do not only stop the frame from twisting but they also provide slightly more protection from wind and rain than a tarpaulin roof.
Both the Whitby and the Osborn climbing frames are suitable for medium size gardens as they include the very popular space saving monkey bars and swing set module. Having the monkey bars and swing set combined means that you don’t need to have acres of space in your garden for your children to enjoy activities and accessories that larger play frames might have.
