The Orton Climbing Frame from Selwood Products

New to the Selwood range of children’s outdoor climbing frames is the Orton climbing frame. The Orton is designed to suit small gardens as it is compact but can ensure that even small gardens are turned into exciting adventure playgrounds.

The Orton is similar to the Rendle Fort climbing frames from Selwood as both playsets feature a play tower on its own without branching accessories such as a swing beam or monkey bars. The Orton play tower is very similar to the play fort featured in the Milford climbing frame which is also new to the Selwood collection, however the Milford is a larger climbing frame which includes a combined monkey bar swing set as well as a play fort.

Climbing frames from Selwood are known for their characteristic rich orange colour wood. The wood used to manufacture Selwood playsets is cedar wood which is treated with a red protective stain to keep the wood from rotting or spoiling and ensure your play frame lasts for as long as possible. The red stain is what gives Selwood’s playsets their unique orange appearance which makes them fit in well in any garden.

The Orton climbing frame features a solid wooden play fort with a wooden roof and two enclosed play cabins for kids to explore. The play tower features a spacious play deck for children to climb to which is sheltered by the roof and enclosed around the outside to keep little ones safe. The wooden roof is a great way of keeping the play fort sheltered in wet weather but it also keeps the play deck out of direct sunlight on hot sunny days. The play deck is enclosed by wooden railings and walls with windows in the top so children can still see out across the garden.

Kids can climb to the play deck using the rockwall ladder at the back of the climbing frame which caters to different climbing abilities so everyone can reach the play deck safely. The rockwall ladder is a great space saving accessory with two activities in the space of one as it provides confident climbers with a rockwall to test their climbing skills and coordination on, plus the ladder steps are an easier climb for younger ones to build confidence on.

The play deck is spacious enough for several children to play together at once for even more fun and it even features a chalk board on the back wall of the play fort. The Orton climbing frame also includes a wavy slide at the front of the play frame which provides a fun way for little ones to exit the play deck. The wave on the ride down makes this slide even more exciting and kids can have hours of fun on it.

Beneath the play deck is the lower enclosed play cabin which features a door at the back and a window/ picnic bench at the front. The lower playhouse provide children with a sheltered play cabin with enough space for a group to play together. The playhouse makes a great play den that kids can play in whatever the weather and it even features its very own window box which children can grow their own in. The play cabin includes a window at the front of the play fort, which also acts as a picnic bar as there are picnic stools on the outside of the playhouse for children to sit at. The picnic bar is a handy place for a drink and a snack or children to rest between play.

Climbing frames are a fantastic way of encouraging children to play outdoors more and ensures that kids stay fit and active while having plenty of fun at the same time. Garden playsets are a great way of keeping boredom at bay especially at the weekends, after school or during school holidays so get yours for summer now!
