Installing the Kinlet Climbing Frame from Selwood

The Kinlet play frame features a wooden play fort packed with popular climbing frame accessories to keep kids amused. The Kinlet climbing frame from Selwood is similar in design to the Sherborn playset, also from Selwood. The main difference is that the Kinlet does not include monkey bars whereas the Sherborn does.

The Kinlet climbing frame does include a play fort, with a playdeck, a solid wooden roof, a slide, a rockwall ladder, a lower playhouse, picnic stools, a chalk wall and a swing set. Children’s playsets from Selwood are all engineered using cedar wood which is stained with a protective red wash over the wood to preserve the play frame. The red stained wood is characteristic of all of the Selwood playsets and looks great in any garden.

The Kinlet features a spacious wooden play fort as well as a three piece swing set so is probably best suited to medium or large sized gardens. The Kinlet play frame is designed to sit on top of grass or a safety surface as opposed to being dug in to the ground. Climbing frames from Selwood are not designed in a way that they can be sunken into the ground or concreted and therefore do need to be installed on a flat area of garden to ensure they are stable. Other playsets from different manufacturers including Play Crazy and NI can be dug into the ground and concreted in to maximise the stability of the play frame.

Our professional climbing frame installers have years of experience in constructing children’s play frames from all well-known manufacturers including Selwood, NI, Play Crazy, Costco, Dunster House, Action, Plum Products and more. Our playset builders will make sure that your climbing frame is assembled correctly and safe to use.

The Kinlet climbing frame from Selwood features a wooden play fort which features a play deck for kids to climb to. The play deck is covered by a solid wooden roof and partially enclosed around the outside creating an upper playhouse for children to play in. The back wall features a chalk wall for kids to get creative on and the walls keep them safe from tumbles yet still let light in and little ones can still see out of the play tower. The wooden roof provides shelter and protection from direct sunlight when children are playing in the play fort.

The play deck can be reached using the rockwall ladder at the back of the play frame whilst the slide at the front of the play fort provides a fun way to exit the play deck. The slide is moulded to include safer high edges which help keep little ones from going off the edge of the slide on the way down.

Underneath the play deck is a second play house which is partially enclosed and can be accessed either from the back or the front of the play frame. This sheltered playhouse is an ideal place for kids to play and it can also be a great place for storing other outdoor toys. The lower playhouse features a serving hatch as the top half of the play house is left open. The serving hatch acts as a picnic bench as there are two stools for children to sit on, on the outside of the play house. The picnic bench/serving hatch includes a tarpaulin canopy above it which adds character to this pretty playset.

The Sherborn climbing frame from Selwood features a very similar play fort with a partially enclosed lower playhouse, picnic stools and a canopy over the serving hatch also. The Sherborn however includes a tarpaulin roof instead of a wooden one. The Sherborn’s roof matches the canopy and offers protection from UV light when children are playing in the play fort but it is not as solid as a wooden roof over the play deck.

The differences between the Kinlet play frame and the Sherborn is that the Kinlet includes a wooden roof as opposed to a tarpaulin one, plus the Kinlet does not include monkey bars. The Kinlet and the Sherborn are still similar in size as the Sherborn features a monkey bar swing combo rather than monkey bars as a separate accessory. The Kinlet does not include monkey bars so is one activity short of the Sherborn. If you have older children who will enjoy the challenge of the monkey bars, the Sherborn might be a good alternative to the Kinlet. The popular monkey bar swing combo is a space saving accessory that is included in many of the Selwood playsets and it provides kids with two activities in the space of one.

Climbing frames are a fantastic way to encourage children to play outside and keep physically active. It is important that kids experience a balance of indoor and outdoor play and outdoor play equipment such as climbing frames can develop new skills and ensure your children make the most of the garden.
